NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) protocol
Treatment for:
- Weight Loss
Addiction
Smoking Cessation
PTSD
In the 1970’s, Dr. Michael Smith modified an existing system of auricular (ear) acupuncture into a technique for the treatment of many common drug addictions. This selection of ear points proved also to be effective in the treatment of anxiety, pain management and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This system is referred to as “NADA.”
How does the NADA treatment work?
In Chinese medicine, the ear is seen as a microsystem which uses one part of the body to treat conditions present anywhere else in the body. In the NADA protocol 5 select points on the ear are stimulated. Stimulated points trigger electrical impulses from the ear via the brain, to the corresponding part of the body being treated. NADA can be easily applied quickly and while seated upright in a chair. NADA treatments are especially designed to consider patient comfort and are generally administered without the addition of other body acupuncture points.

Impressed with research, The Department of Defense has implemented this protocol in treatment for Soldiers on the field and Veterans at home. Additionally, it has allocated 5 million dollars in funding to train physicians in this protocol.
